Crime Branch has arrested Congress leader Dharmesh Saglani in an extortion case originally registered by Agassaim police. Later, this case was transferred to Crime Branch.
According to FIR registered by Agacaim police, Dharmesh Sanglani along with other accused namely Rajesh Kumar, Sashank Singh, Manish Jain and 3 others allegedly assaulted one businessman Ankit Jojodia and demanded an extortion of Rs 50 lakh.
Police said that the incident had occurred on December 17, 2021 in a house in Bambolim and the complaint was lodged by Jojodia on January 24. Jojodia is originally from Haryana, informed police.
Referring to the complaint the police said that the accused persons and 3 other bouncers with their common object formed an unlawful assembly, abused and dragged the complainant on the first floor of the house. They forcefully locked him inside a room and the accused Kumar and Sanglani caught hold of his neck and threatened him with dire consequences to kill and demanded Rs 50 lakh.
